O Fine Japanese Cuisine

My husband and I went to O Fine Japanese for sushi while on a business trip. The restaurant is hard to find in the strip mall and it much much smaller than the photos imply. I had several items for lunch. All of the sushi meat was dry and seemed old. The plating was beautiful in presentation and the flavors for the dish were great, but the fish was dry in texture like it had been exposed to air for a long time. I was hoping I was not going to get ill... The bar area is pretty, but the rest of the seating is just ok, several flies in the window beside our booth seat. Even the waitress mentioned the flies... We had the Tzakaya 6 pc sampler, Tuna Tataki izakaya, Seared yellow tail roll, and 1/2 crunch lobster roll. Average in price. We would not go back nor recommend. When on the Pacific Coast Hwy, you need to have fresh fish...

Nothing remarkable

We've been going to O for years, and I thought it was certainly time to let everyone know what a fantastic restaurant this is! The sushi is fresh and the rolls are creative and perfectly portioned. often with Sushi it's overpriced and the portions are way too small, not at O! they are very fair with their portions and the sushi is as fresh and as good as anywhere in Laguna or Newport. Highly recommend them! Oh but make a reservation, especially on the weekend.
